We love our interns here at VETSxHBCU!

A 4-month paid role to introduce military-affiliated individuals to the Veteran Service Organization field.

Students will have a full understanding of how one’s degree program can elevate one’s career. Students will understand the application and usage of GI Bill Benefits, whether it be Montgomery GI Bill, Post-9/11 GI Bill or VR&E. Students will understand how to self-advocate and elevate their special skill set they can then bring to veteran service organizations.

Academic support will be provided by VETSxHBCU in the form of Academic Advising. By fully understanding how one’s degree program can elevate one’s career, the participants in this program can graduate this internship and feel ready to embark on a career, not just a job. VETSxHBCU can assist military-affiliated individuals and community leaders. There will be one meeting a week throughout the duration of the internship with a member of the leadership team at VETSxHBCU. This will provide the students who participate in this program advising opportunities to elevate the special skill set one can bring to the table at the C-Suite level of service organizations. This mentorship is designed to support and encourage academic growth, increase cross-organizational understanding, and improve professional networks to facilitate career growth after graduation.

This is a hybrid internship. The intern will have most tasks and meetings conducted in the virtual setting with the VETSxHBCU team. HBCU-related events local to the intern will be considered for the on-site curriculum items in the syllabus.
